Upgrade Policy

Perpetual License Upgrade Policy

Minor Upgrades

Minor upgrades are identified by a change in the version number after the decimal point. For example, the upgrade from V6.0 to V6.1 is a minor upgrade. Minor upgrades include bug fixes, and may also contain some new features. Minor upgrades are free for the life of the product.

Major Upgrades

Major upgrades are identified by a change in the version number before the decimal point. For example, the upgrade from V5.0 to V6.0 is a major upgrade. Major upgrades include substantial changes such as new features, or support for new operating systems. Major upgrades are free if you have a current Premium Support Plan on the release date, or if you purchased your license in the 60 days prior to the release date. The release date is the day the new version becomes available on the ANIXIS web site.

If you do not qualify for a free upgrade, then you are entitled to an upgrade discount. The upgrade discount is expressed as a percentage of the purchase price of your existing license, and cannot exceed 50% of the value of the new license.

When upgrading from the most recent version, you are entitled to a discount equal to 50% of the original purchase price. For example, if a V5.x license was $500, and a V6.x license is $550, then the upgrade price is $300 [550 - (500 / 2)].

When upgrading from an older version, you are entitled to a discount equal to 25% of the original purchase price. For example, if a V4.x license was $500, and a V6.x license is $600, then the upgrade price is $475 [600 - (500 / 4)].

Increasing the license size

You are also entitled to an upgrade discount when you increase the size of your license. If you have a license for the current version of the software, then the discount is equal to the amount paid for your existing license. For example, if a 500-user V3.x license was $800, and a 1,000-user V3.x license is $1400, then the upgrade price is $600 [1400 - 800].

If you have a license for an older version of the software, then the discount is calculated using the major upgrade rules above. A 50% discount is granted for the previous version, and 25% for older versions. For example, if a 500-user V3.x license was $400, and a 1,000-user V4.x license is $700, then the upgrade price is $500 [700 - (400 / 2)].

ANIXIS may change this policy from time to time. If you are disadvantaged by a change to this policy, then you are entitled to the conditions offered at the time of purchase.
