The Password Policy Client
The Password Policy Client reduces user frustration and password related helpdesk calls by helping users to choose a compliant password. You do not have to install the Password Policy Client to use PPE, but the Similarity rule is only enforced if the PPC is installed.
The PPC helps users to choose a compliant password by explaining the password policy to them, and by explaining why their password was rejected. If the PPC is not installed, then users will see the default Windows error message when their password is rejected.
The PPC (right) adds a password policy panel to the Change Password dialog so that users can see the policy as they choose their password.
The Windows Password Rejected message (left) is very complex, and does not tell users which rules they failed to comply with. The PPC message tells users exactly which rules they did not comply with.
